GATE CITY LACROSSE
Gate City Lacrosse will provide the fields, goals, officials, and balls. It will be the players responsibilty to provide all the mandatory equipment: Eye Goggles, Helmet, Gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads and mouth piece, etc.
We understand that families are busy and we expect that there will be times when not everyone is there. If you miss the first week your team assignment and jersey will be reserved for you. You will not be able to get a refund for missed games.
Gate City is committed to providing balanced competitive leagues, and therefore we cannot make any guarantees. We will however, do our best to make accomodations whenever possible.
We will be playing 8 on 8 for both men and women(two players back for women and 2D , 3M , 2 A and 1 G for men), so as many as 15 players will be assigned to a team. This is necessary, so that we can accomodate as many people as possible, and we recognise that not everyone will be there every week. So to ensure that no team will have to forfeit due to a lack of players, the squad numbers will be slightly larger.
The short answer is yes. There are no league champions, this year, so if you are in attendance you will play. It will be your coaches responsibility to ensure that everyone will get quality playing time.
Gate City lacrosse teams do not practice. We will have six weeks of games. Each team will be assigned a date and play one game per week.
The schedule will be posted on the Sunday prior on our home page, with field location and start times. You will also receive an e-mail with the upcoming schedule and any other information. The games will start on time it will be the players responsibilty to get there in time to warm up accordingly.
We are in a contract with Proehlific Park for the rental of their fields, and we will avoid cancelling games whenever possible. However, Proehlific Park reserves the right to cancel games due to poor field conditions. We will also follow the NCAA Lightning guidelines pertaining to player safety. Our policy is to determine if games can be played on the field at game time. This provides us with very little opportunity to announce game cancelations in advance. Wherever possible we will try to reschedule games, but this is not alway possible.
There will be no refunds given for canceled games or if a player misses due to uncertainty in the weather.
Gate City will issue refunds through the first week of play for good cause. Good cause will be determined at the sole discretion of Gate City Lacrosse, and if a refund is given, Gate City Reserves the right to withhold any direct costs incurred during registration including cost of a jersey that has been purchased.
Gate City lacrosse will strive to provide the most balanced and competitive league possible. The team selection process is this:
Once you have registered we will see if you would like to play with other members of your current team. If you do we try our best to place you with your team. If your, team is loaded with defensemen, and another team is light with defensemen, the last defenseman requesting to be on a team will be moved to the team who is light on defense.
